North Pacific Cannery Museum is located south of the small town of Port Edward. It is one of the longest standing canneries in the Port Edward area. Built in 1889, it is the oldest salmon cannery still in operation in British Columbia and was in use until the late 1960s. A local group was able to prevent its destruction once the operation was entirely shut down in the early 1980s, and it is now a designated national historic site and museum.
